Stephenie Carroll’s Story

My name is Stephenie Carroll, and I have been clean and sober for 21 years. I am currently the Program Director for Bakersfield Recovery Services. It is an honor to work for the program that gave me a life worth staying clean for. I am a graduate of Capistrano Community for Women from 1997. I spent a year in treatment at Capistrano and it completely changed the direction of my life and helped mold me into who I am today. I was a 22-year-old scared, young mom of a 3-year-old little girl when I got to Capistrano in August of 1996. I had spent a good portion of my early adult life either on drugs or incarcerated. The staff at Capistrano showed me the unconditional acceptance that I needed in order to build my self-worth and help me to set goals for my life.
